FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT VISAS
I HAVE RECEIVED A PROPOSAL FROM PEOPLE SAYING THAT THEY CAN HELP WITH MY VISA PROCESS. SHOULD I ACCEPT?
Do not accept proposals of early appointments or other types of facilitation of visa processes from third parties against payment. This practice is illegal and should be communicated immediately to our consular services: visas.novadeli@mne.pt
The visa applications should be submitted and paid only to VFS Delhi Portugal Application Center
If an gent is involved in the process, the visa aplication may be refused.

CAN I SUBMIT MY VISA APPLICATION THROUGH A THIRD PERSON?
NO. The identity of the applicant needs to be confirmed when the application is submitted. In india, the only service provider authorized to file portuguese visas is VFS.
MY VISA REQUEST WAS REFUSED. WHA CAN I DO?
When a visa request is refused, an applicant has the right of appeal. In order to submit an appeal, the aplicant needs to do it via VFS and pay a fee of 75 euro + taxes

I WANT TO APPLY FOR A SCHENGEN VISA. WHAT ARE THE REQUISITES?
- You may consult basic information regarding Schengen visas here
- Portugal is the main destination of the applicant's trip
- One separate set of documents is required for each individual applicant
- the application cannot be submited more than 3 months or less than 15 days before the intended date of travel
- The passport must be valid for more than 3 months after the arrival in Portugal.
- You may consult the list of basic Schengen documents for Indian citizens here.
- However, the applicants could be asked for additional documents or may be called for an Interview, if deemed necessary by the Embassy of Portugal, New Delhi.
- At the time of the application, you will need to carry all documents in original and provide your biometrics.
- The application cannot be submitted by a third person.

- The visa fee, according to Schengen regulations, is non-refundable.

I LIVE IN INDIA AND I NEED A POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE (PCC) FOR MY VISA PROCESS. WHY SHOULD I GET IT FROM THE REGIONAL PASSPORT OFFICE?
The REGIONAL PASSPORT OFFICE (RPO) is part of the MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (MEA). Since it is a central body, the issuance of Police Clearence Certificate is simpler and faster. After the issuance of the document, it should be authenticated with an Apostille by the MEA or one of the RPO's

I AM FROM BANGLADESH AND NEED TO APPLY FOR A NATIONAL VISA IN NEW DELHI. ARE THERE ANY PARTICULAR REQUIREMENTS?
According to the information provided by the Indian authorities, Bangladeshi citizens applying for a national visa to travel to Portugal in New Delhi will need a double entry visa issued by the High Commission of India in Dhaka [X-Double Entry] valid for a maximum period of three months. The stay during the visit to India should not exceed 15 days. This visa shall be non-extendable.
VFS will only accept applications from Bangladeshi citizens if they have a valid Indian visa in the required category (X-Double Entry - for submission of Portuguese visa application in New Delhi).
