On the World Portuguese Language Day, May 5, 2020, which is celebrated across continents by all the Portuguese language speaking countries and territories, in a specially recorded video for the occasion, we bring you a rendition of "Fado Português" written by Alain Oulman & José Régio and performed by the Fado singer Ana Pinhal, with João Martins on Portuguese guitar & André Teixeira on Fado guitar.
Fado is a Portuguese traditional form of music characterized by mournful tunes and lyrics, often about the sea or the life of the poor, and infused with a sentiment of resignation, fate and melancholia. On 27 November 2011, Fado was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists.
